HAPPY FLAG DAY
GOD BLESS AMERICA
On this day in 1777 "the Continental Congress passed a resolution specifying that the flag carry 13 stripes and 13 stars. The colors would represent hardiness and valor (red), purity and innocence (white), and vigilance, perseverance and justice (blue)."

Army celebrates 235 years of 'liberating millions'
On May 10, 1975 the Second Continental Congress convened in Philadelphia. On the agenda: creating a common army to defend the colonies. On June 14, the Congress approved the creation of that army -- the Continental Army. The new force was made of those militiamen already gathered outside Boston -- some 22,000 of them -- plus those in New York, about 5,000.

Flag day is also the day my family remembers the death of our mother's mother, Grandmother Ruth (1964) and my mother's only brother David, 1970.
Sorry this blog is so late! I had trouble signing in to my blog this morning, and took my mom to the doctor this afternoon.
